    At 15 min when talking about ROC required you say its 5000 that’s not accurate they require a demonstrated rate of climb at 5000ft MSL. Can’t think of a plane that can do 5000fpm on a single engine.

    Remember if the flight school has a ZTA program and they have a designated prehire CFI candidates, they will prioritize those people by scheduling their checkride earlier than non ZTA students. Normally flight schools such as this one will be over saturated with candidates therefore they will bring examiners from out of town to conduct checkrides. As a non ZTA student you will be on your own whether you pass or fail. If you fail your checkride there will be no follow up by the school. (They already have your money) There was a case where they brought an examiner from the Salt Lake City FSDO where they scheduled all non ZTA CFI candidates with him, no one passed their initial CFI with him. This guy will require a flight school check or a cashiers check or cash. They quote $1500 for the examiner but some they bring in will charge much more than that! Where I teach we choose the examiner. if we suspect that the examiner issued a notice of disapproval for something that wasn’t in the ACS or unfair we will appeal that NOD on the student’s behalf and never use that examiner again.

    Awesome as always! Would you consider interviewing older or second career zta students? Im an older aspiring pilot with hesitations about the future job market and making the leap.

    • @chrislhowell
      @chrislhowell 3 дні тому

      I really enjoy the pod casts as well, and I was thinking of almost this exact comment, the first half anyway. The job market always ebbs and flows so that doesn't concern me that much. I am also very very seriously considering a second carrier as a pilot, not looking to retire as a 777 captain or anything like that but even just fly for a regional I'd be happy. I was looking for a flight school about 23 years ago and right when I found one 9/11 happened and a different career path happened to work out, I became a firefighter in a big city in Ohio, but my 25th year to retire is fast approaching I'll only be 51(I still feel young) and in good health, I still dream of being a pilot all day everyday. The kids are older and I finally have some spending money and plan on restarting my private pilot training over in a couple months and taking it from there. But would love to hear an interview about an older student and or someone's second career. I would also like to say that I found Thrust Fight helping my son look for a flight school, he is planning to attend there starting in October, we were planning to go down to Texas for a visit in August or early Sept. He is currently finishing up his private right now. Best wishes -Chris

    I took a Discovery Flight recently and here is a question if you'd be kind to answer. The flight instructor was super nice, but the plane (172s Cessna with G1000) was beat up. The dash material was completely ripped off, right hand tire grooves had dry-rod. The tire on the right did not match the the tire on the left. The plane was was super dirty inside and out. And, they told me that they only had (1) 172S out of (5) in running order.

    Mostly good,9/10. But the explanation of slipstream and it's effects are inaccurate (And just leave the Bernuli effect out of it.). Not a deal breaker because in flight it is a very minor effect and completely in the shadow of P-factor. There are a few other inaccuracies in the presentation but they are very minor.

    Bit too surface level video. They’re CFI’s and experienced pilots and really gave information you can google What I’d suggest: -Ride share with other pilots. One flies a XC there, the other flies back. If you’re working towards instrument or already have, have a PPL holder be a safety pilot for you -If you and your CFII are comfortable with it, fly your instrument training at night. It’s more realistic and will build night time for both yourself and CFII which is valuable to get an ATP in the future. The reason I say “if comfortable” is because single engine at night comes with its own risks but they can be manageable. -volunteer for charity flights -If you can network, work for someone who owns a plane that’s willing to trade flight time for labor.

    Would you recomend this plane as a privatly owned aircraft? Other planes such as the da62 and G58 are well out of my range. This is the only new twin-engine aircraft with low wings that ive found. I fly over waters quite often, and am tired of always worying about losing my only engine. A twin is much better for my situation. Would you recommend this as a private plane? If not, what else should I look at. (I am not intrested in Tecnam aircraft)

    The reality is “every day is a new day.” Winds are everything. On check-ride day go out early before the start of the check-ride and practice for the conditions on that day. Yes, things can change and they can also stay the same or be similar. Practicing an hour before the start of your ride/oral will also give you confidence no matter what the winds are.
